What To expect

Upon confirming your 1st appointment with me, I will call you to conduct a short pre-session interview to gather some basic information and ascertain your needs.  Your appointment is not fully reserved until we are able to have this initial conversation. Subsequent bookings with established clients do not require an initial interview.

I aim to arrive approximately 15 minutes early to your appointment to allow enough time for equipment set-up, intake procedures, and payment of the balance of your fee.  Often the living room provides adequate space for the massage table and movement. We will also use this time to discuss any updates since your last visit and any new areas of concern.

Once set-up is complete, I will step out of the room and allow privacy for you to disrobe to your comfort level and lay on the table underneath the sheet and blanket. I will announce myself before reentering the room to ensure you are ready to proceed.

During your massage, proper draping will always be in place so that only the areas of your body being currently worked on will be uncovered.  It is very important to communicate any discomfort you experience during the massage or any adjustments you need made to pressure or techniques. Feel free to talk to me only as much, or as little, as you like during the session.  Relaxing your mind and muscles and breathing normally is central to optimizing your experience. Common experiences during massage are yawning, drowsiness, movement of intestinal gas, stomach gurgling, the need to move or change position, energy shifts, emotional feelings and triggering of memories. Try not to be embarrassed by any of these normal responses.

When your massage is complete, I will step back out of the room to allow you time to redress before returning to take down the linens and equipment. It is important for you to hydrate with plenty of water following your massage as it will aid in sweeping away the toxins released in your system.

Regular massage is an important component of total wellness.  Similar to physical exercise, massage provides the best benefits when done on a consistent basis. Due to the stress, anxieties, chronic aches and pains and other issues we experience in daily life it is important to regularly address those problems and activate your parasympathetic nervous system to help return your system to homeostasis. In addition, massage often produces feelings of caring, connection and comfort.
